OUR GOALS

  • Help student and emerging designers access vocational design courses offered through Fiji-based tertiary institutions

  • Develop opportunities for our designers and creatives from the wider Fijian arts communities to collaborate

The Project

Wearing Fiji is a local initiative aimed at developing the Fijian fashion industry through education and mentoring for emerging and student designers, and capacity building for established designers.

The Idea

Samson Lee and Neisau Tuidraki, co founders of Wearing Fiji both worked together on a student designer show 2 years ago and recognised there was a gap in the fashion industry for technical knowledge but more specifically a lack of creative spaces for high school and tertiary students to explore fashion design.

"We realised that there was also an opportunity to pair aspiring student designers with established designers to mentor and the need for creative spaces for students to explore and develop and that's where this project comes in, our hope is that we can create job pathways through education and mentoring"
